Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

Tauranga has come of age and Elizabeth Towers is inspired by that journey. From the hustle and bustle of the beautiful heart of the city, to the calm haven of your apartment with its expansive views. From the oasis of the sky garden equipped with green spaces to relax or the pool and gym to exercise, to the elegant entertainment areas to socialise.

The building’s aesthetic reflects the city meeting the ocean. While aspects such as the light and airy palette of neutral tones reflect the beauty of the beach, accents of brass and timber show the refined elegance of architectural design that has gone into making this build unique.

Elizabeth Towers will sit atop the Thirty Eight Elizabeth destination, which brings state-of-the-art dining and shopping options to transform the gateway to downtown. The development promises to bring with it an immense community value and a renewed sense of vibrancy for the area.

Generosity of space and clarity of form are the defining features of the living spaces at Elizabeth Towers. Quite simply every single apartment will have a commanding and unparalleled view – stretching from the city, to the harbour, Mount Maunganui and beyond. These views are the main feature at every turn, with expansive windows and oversized decks designed to bring the outside in. The indoor-outdoor connection will equally allow residents to entertain with flow, or peacefully watch the world go by.

Welcome to Elizabeth Towers.

Architect’s vision

Elizabeth Towers and Thirty Eight Elizabeth responds to the immediate city grid. A simple palette of warm sandstone cladding, bronze metal, and superbly detailed glazing reference historic buildings in the city centre. The sensitive use of timber and planting tops off the aesthetic of refined elegance.

At ground level on Elizabeth Street the historic Farmers retail presence is tastefully complemented by the raised, north-facing food and beverage terrace.

The result is a timeless design quality set against the local character of the Tauranga area.

Every detail both inside and out has been conceptualised and crafted to bring an X-factor to Elizabeth Towers. From extra-wide balconies that drink up the uninhibited and unparalleled views, to the hinges on the kitchen cabinetry, Elizabeth Towers offers quality that will stand the test of time.

History and culture

Thirty Eight Elizabeth and Elizabeth Towers pay homage to the cultural history of the area – Te Papa – and the market gardens through murals and tapestries. These have been integrated into public and private spaces around the development.

After consulting with stakeholders, including iwi, business, Tauranga City councillors and the public, a design was sensitively crafted that would service as a southern gateway to the inner city.

The building’s modern mix of retail, dining and living will create an unprecedented experience of cosmopolitan living in New Zealand, which mixes the best of both peace and tranquillity in the oasis of Elizabeth Towers, within the lively state-of-the-art shopping and dining scene of Thirty Eight Elizabeth.

Development progress update

Discover Thirty Eight Elizabeth

There’s so much to discover at the new Thirty Eight Elizabeth retail precinct. Now open in Downtown Tauranga.

Just over 7000sqm of the 8000sqm retail offering on the ground and level 2 is now open, including the state-of-the-art Farmers store, and Whitcoulls and Pascoes, also located on the ground floor entrance on Elizabeth Street.

These iconic New Zealand retail brands are all part of the James Pascoe Group, also behind the development as Elizabeth Properties Limited.

The Farmers store has been designed and fitted out following on from the brand’s success at Sylvia Park and 277 in Newmarket, Auckland.

Plenty of undercover parking is also available with three hours free with a purchase over $10 (see more parking details below).

Graeme Walker is store manager at Farmers and has been with the company for over 50 years. He returned to the Thirty Eight Elizabeth store to open it after working there at the original site for over 30 years.

He says the new store has been very popular, with staff and customers alike excited about the shopping experience the new store provides. In particular, the statement feature lighting across departments has been noticed and enjoyed.

“Customers just love the store. They are happy we are back in town. The lighting around the store has been getting particular attention, with it changing across different department to create varying ambience, look and feel,” says Graeme.

“Once the eateries are open, the shopping experience and journey for our customers will be enriched even more. With the luxury apartments and townhouses going up above, Tauranga is ready for city living.”

The response to Pascoes being back in town has similarly been met with enthusiasm. Store manager at Thirty Eight Elizabeth, Maria, says she’s really enjoyed the reaction of customers to the new space.

“It’s been just so positive,” says Maria. “Everyone who has stepped foot in the store has been totally blown away. The new modern layout and personalised shopping experience is being welcomed. The local customers who live in the city and are so thrilled we are here, bringing a great vibe downtown.

“There are also a lot of customers who love street, city shopping. It has a more unique vibe, with more character and personality. There’s certainly plenty of it here. Thirty Eight Elizabeth is already becoming known as a destination. With the easy drive-in undercover parking from First Avenue, the shopping experience is seamless and easy.”

Subway is the first of the food and beverage offerings open at Thirty Eight Elizabeth.

“Long term this is going to be the beginning of something great for the city,” says Bruce, owner operator of Subway at Thirty Eight Elizabeth. “The new Subway store welcomes seated dining, and we can see people are really enjoying the relaxed inner-city vibe.”

Subway offers everything from sandwiches, to wraps, healthy salad bowls, and smoothies. Delicious barista-made coffee is also available all day. Take out or enjoy the fresh and airy ambience of the new restaurant style seating in the new store at Thirty Eight Elizabeth.

Whitcoulls also features on the ground floor, offering a large range of books, toys, gifts, cards, and stationery.
