What is your role in the Farmers Tauranga Development project?

I am an Interior Designer with Ignite, which is the company that has completed the architecture for the development.  The role of the interior designer includes everything from wall locations, coordination with external consultants such as acoustics, and services, through to joinery detailing, and selection of fittings and finishes. Our team has designed the apartments and townhouses including the residential communal areas (concierge, lounge, gym) and the food and beverage terrace.

What is your background?

I grew up in Tauranga, then completed a Bachelor of Interior Design in Auckland. Over the past 20 years I have been very fortunate to work for some world-renowned practices in London and Dubai. Projects were mostly centred around hotels throughout Europe and the Middle East as well as some large commercial works. We returned to Tauranga in 2017.

What do you like about working on the project?

Multi-storey mixed-use developments are the way of the future. It’s exciting to be a part of something so unique to the region and be setting a precedent for a new way of living. This is a development that is about so much more than a place to live. It’s about lifestyle, wellness and community, all areas that I am personally very passionate about. The interiors are very focused on who the market is likely to be and how we should be designing to best suit the resident. The client’s vision is aligned with mine in that the design should respond to time and place, but also be timeless.

What do you like to do outside of work?

A busy mum of two wonderful boys, my most treasured moments currently are family trips in our camper van. I also love teaching fitness classes and helping people achieve their wellness goals.

Favourite Netflix show?

Currently Greys Anatomy. I somehow missed the boat on this one, so I recently started back at the beginning and am slowing making my way through all seasons.

Your go-to song?

Happy by Pharrell Williams. It’s not so much about the song as it is the memories. I used to dance around the house with my first born in my arms and he loved this song, so now it always makes me smile.
